St. Hilary Lions Claims Lead In 5th Inning To Defeat St. Albert's
St. Hilary Lions ran off with the lead late in the game in a 9-7 victory over St. Albert's on Wednesday. St. Hilary Lions trailed 7-6 in the bottom of the fifth inning when Liam Potichen doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring three runs.
St. Albert's scored five runs in the third inning, but St. Hilary Lions still managed to pull out the victory. St. Albert's big bats were led by Jack W and Ryan A, who each had RBIs in the inning.
St. Albert's got on the board in the first inning when Mike W. singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.
In the bottom of the first inning, St. Hilary Lions tied things up at one. Frankie Rago grounded out, scoring one run and getting the RBI to tie up the game.
Tommy Yaegel was the winning pitcher for St. Hilary Lions. He allowed five hits and six runs over three innings, striking out six. Mason Powell and Rago entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Rago recorded the last three outs to earn the save for St. Hilary Lions.
Chris S took the loss for St. Albert's. He went five innings, allowing nine runs on seven hits and striking out eight.
Potichen went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead St. Hilary Lions in hits. St. Hilary Lions tore up the base paths, as three players stole at least two bases. Rago led the way with three.
The Game officially ended in the 5th Inning.
